HELLO, I’M
I’m the photographer behind Love Olive. I’m a mum, a wife, slightly addicted to coffee, permanently shadowed by one very clingy little toy poodle, and the person you’ll usually find making ridiculous noises behind the camera if it gets me a real smile.
I’ve been photographing families for more than a decade, from tiny new beginnings to growing families and all the little moments that make them yours.
But Love Olive has always been about more than taking beautiful photographs.
THERE’S A STORY BEHIND THE NAME...
My love for photography started long before my little business existed, and so much of it is tangled up in memories of my beautiful Nan.
I lost my Pop when I was only little, and after that I spent so many of my school holidays in Narrogin with her. We were like two peas in a pod.
We cooked together, walked together, talked for hours and went on little adventures. We'd wander along the old railway or down to the dam with my camera in hand while I photographed absolutely everything. She had the patience of a saint.
And she was so proud of me. The kind of proud where I'm fairly certain everyone she ever met knew exactly what I was doing with my life.
She was one of a kind, my Nan. The sort of person people just loved being around, and I was incredibly lucky to be loved by her.
I could listen to her stories for hours, but my favourite was always how she met my Pop. They caught each other's eye one night at a dance and spent the evening together on the dance floor. Not long after, Pop was sent off to war. They kept in touch through letters until one day, a marriage proposal arrived in the mail.
They married when he returned and went on to share a beautiful life together. They absolutely adored each other.
My gorgeous Nan, Olive, passed away in 2021. I miss her terribly.
For years, my photography business simply carried my own name. When I decided it was time for a new name, I wanted it to mean something. Something that came from the heart.
A little piece of her woven into something I love, and a little nod to the love letters that began my grandparents’ story all those years ago.
Love Olive.
Just the way I imagine she might have signed her name at the bottom of one of them.
MY LOVES
Mine. My husband, my babes, my whole world.
They're the reason I understand just how much the ordinary little moments matter. How quickly tiny hands get bigger, little voices change and one chapter quietly becomes the next.
Life with us is busy, a little chaotic and full of big personalities. We laugh a lot, love each other fiercely, and wherever they are feels like home.
And then there's Lola. My little shadow. Our tiny toy poodle with a very big personality and absolutely no concept of personal space. She was the missing piece to our family puzzle.
